One day a year, red
takes over as the most
fashionable color to be
seen in! That day is
National Wear Red
Day, Friday, February 1, 2008.
Show your support for the American
Heart Association’s Go Red for
Women movement, a nationwide campaign designed to raise a
woman’s awareness that heart disease
is her No. 1 health risk. One in three
women has cardiovascular disease,
and every minute one woman dies as
a result of this health threat.
Nationally, more than 10,000 companies
participated in National Wear
Red Day, and many cities across the
nation illuminate monuments, landmarks
and major buildings in red to
show their support in the fight against
heart disease.
Last year, San Antonio joined the
American Heart Association and painted
the town red. From SW 24th street
to the Alamo, women around the city
wore their red with pride and joined
the Go Red For Women movement.
Thanks to the participation of millions
of people across the country, the color
red and the red dress have become
linked with creating awareness of heart
disease in women. Women are encouraged
to assess their personal heart
health risk by taking the online Go Red
for Women Heart CheckUp and joining
the Go Red for Women movement at
goredforwomen.org.
Wear red on Friday, Feb. 1, to
help save the hearts of women
who are loved by many. Visit

more about National Wear Red
Day and Go Red For women.
