The annual Artpace Happening fundraiser and it’s futuristic theme, was an out-of-this world success.

Keeping in mind that today's artists set the foundation for tomorrow, guests at this extremely exclusive, formal event got a glimpse into a fantastical world where art IS the future, with signature cocktails and exquisite cuisine.  And the party has become famous for its notorious after party on the Artpace roof.

The “Make It Your Mission Celebration,” presented by Los Compadres, celebrated its 21st  year with a fabulous party at Mission Concepción. The evening, chaired by Rick Grinnan, began with a reception followed by a seated dinner and live entertainment.  Local philanthropists Kathleen and Curtis Gunn were also honored for their donation of land adjacent to Mission Concepción valued at $1.265 million—the single largest donation in Los Compadres’  history.

Hats, hats and more hats at Le Brunch des Chapeaux

Le Brunch des Chapeaux, an annual event benefiting the Autism Community Network, features ladies in a colorful sea of hats amid the backdrop of the historic Argyle Club.  This event is in its ninth year and has become a sell-out ticket for the past several of those.  During this delightful party, the ladies enjoy a delicious brunch, amazing raffle and an oh, so stylish, style show by Julian Gold at the Argyle.

The 19th Annual Cancer Center Council Spring Luncheon was an afternoon of giving, sharing and laughter emceed by KSAT Anchor and cancer survivor Leslie Mouton.  CCC members honored mother/daughter “dynamic duo” Bille Kite Howlett and Lisa Cohick and then enjoyed hilarious speaker/comedian/juggler Scott Burton.  This annual event brought a sold out crowd to the Pearl Stable.

There’s no place like home. . . except maybe the Red Shoes Gala

This year, St. PJ’s supporters put a different twist on the red shoes theme, remembered the days of Elvis and rock ‘n’ roll and put on their red suede shoes!

The Red Shoes Gala, benefitting St. Peter/St. Joseph Children’s Home and honoring SWBC and its founders Charlie Amato and Gary Dudley, took place at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort & Spa. Event Chairs were Alexandra and Paul Rockwood and co-chairs were Harry and Victoria Flavin.

The annual Valentine Luncheon to benefit Friends of Hospice was chaired by Patti King and Dian Sherrod.  This annual event, held at the San Antonio Country Club,  features an enormous silent auction, a delicious lunch and an amazing Spring Fashion Show by Julian Gold featuring local models.

At a special reception at The Penthouse on Broadway, former Dixie Chicks Emily Robison and Martie Maguire celebrated the formation of their new band, the Courtyard Hounds.  The Hounds performed a few days later at ther Empire Theatre in a benefit concert for St. Luke’s Episcopal School’s John Radney Foster Service Scholarship, band member Radney Foster’s father.   

This scholarship provides financial assistance for a student’s tuition each year for up to three years in middle school.
