By DR. VIRGINIA D. MOODY
Everyone in the universe is gifted, but many fail to attain
the stairway to success and significance because they lack
focus and a plan. With 24 hours in each day, there are
many opportunities to free the “Genie” within, to activate
something awesome for ourselves and for the benefit
of others.
It is how we decide to use those critical 24 hours each day
that determines our successes in life. In order to release the “Genie” inside and to have a life of significance, there are several
steps we can employ:
1. Determine your values and write your personal mission
statement. Determine what you are passionate about, and
spend your time and energy on those things that develop your
mission statement. This becomes your guide for what stays on
your plate and what goes off.
2. Develop your personal life plan and priorities. This is what
you'll do, how you’ll do it and when you’ll do it. It should also
include measurable goals and a timeline. For example, your
goal may be to grow your business by 15 percent, or to do
something special for at least one person each week. What
gets measured gets done.
3. Ask yourself, “Is this good for me?” Use your body to
test your plan. Your body and mind are wonderfully made
and can sense things that are right for you. And remember
that sixth sense — use it! If it is good, you should feel excited
and want to share it with others. Your socks should roll
up and down with joy.
4. Select an accountability partner or coach to keep you on
track, and then work hard to accomplish your plan. We all need
someone on our side to cheer us on, to give us a swift kick in
the pants to keep us on track, and to have a special desire to
see us become successful.
5. Now, make it happen AND PASS ALONG WHAT
YOU’VE LEARNED TO OTHERS. Cut anything that doesn’t
line up with your heart and does not add value to others.
Then celebrate each milestone accomplished, including
learning from your failures.
See you at the next level of success and significance!

Upcoming Events
The theme for the 2007-08 chapter
year, as defined by chapter president
Shawn McCormick and culled from
membership research, is “Business
Growth and Expansion.” To reinforce
this, monthly programs have been
planned that will represent integral
aspects of business growth. The information
presented to attendees this year will
be expanded for some programs through
not just one speaker, but through several
panelists presenting their varying perspectives
on a topic.
All monthly speakers will be invited
to contribute to a special “Portfolio
for Growth” — a toolkit of ideas with
a special binder for members only.
Additionally, the monthly meetings
this year will alternate between the
established breakfast format and a
new-to-NAWBO® luncheon format. All
of these changes are in response to
the input of our members. Please join
NAWBO-SA for an exciting chapter
year focused on growth!
